Prerequisites

This page lists everything that must be in place before installing the conneQt® Toolbar. Working through these requirements before you begin will help avoid issues during installation, registration, and first use.

The requirements are grouped by area, work through each section and use the checklist at the bottom of this page to confirm you are ready to proceed.

User Requirements

Requirement Details
Administrator privileges Installation must be performed by someone with local administrator rights, such as an IT administrator.
Post-installation registration A one-time registration step must be completed by a local administrator using Quicksilva-provided registration data.
No special privileges after install Once installed and registered, no administrator credentials are required for day-to-day use or automatic updates.

Hardware & Environment

Requirement Details
Local workstation The conneQt® Toolbar must be installed on the same machine as the PAS (EMIS Web or TPP SystmOne). This is typically the user's local workstation (e.g. a GP or clinician's PC), but may also be a Virtual Machine (VM) where the PAS is hosted on that same VM.
Machine-wide installation The Toolbar installs machine-wide and is available to all users on that machine without requiring a separate installation per user profile.
Machine name / IP address Not required. The PC's hostname or IP address is not a dependency for installation or operation.
Operating system Windows 10 or Windows 11 is required. Other operating systems are not supported.

Software & Dependencies

Requirement Details
No prerequisite software The conneQt® Toolbar is a self-contained package. No bridging software, browser extensions, or external devices are required.
Patient Administration System (PAS) A supported PAS must be installed on the same machine, either EMIS Web, TPP SystmOne, or both. The Toolbar reads user and organisation data from the underlying PAS for authentication.
No additional configuration tools No external configuration utilities are needed. Registration is handled through the Toolbar's own interface.

Network & Security

Requirement Details
Outbound internet access The Toolbar makes outbound calls to Quicksilva conneQt® cloud services only. These calls are made over standard HTTPS. In most environments, no additional firewall rules are needed beyond normal outbound internet access. However, if your network uses IP allowlisting or strict egress filtering, please Contact Us. We can work with you to identify the relevant endpoints and ensure connectivity.
TLS v1.2 support All network communications use TLS v1.2. The workstation must support this protocol.
No inbound connections The Toolbar does not require any inbound ports to be opened.

Data & Storage

Requirement Details
Cloud-based data All operational data is stored in UK Azure datacentres, encrypted at rest and in transit.

Deployment Recommendations

Recommendation Details
Full estate deployment Deploy across your entire estate (single or multiple practices). The Toolbar will not be enabled on Quicksilva's side until requested, allowing a phased rollout with pilot sites as required.
Machine reloads or replacements No special considerations are needed. The Toolbar can be reinstalled and re-registered at will, so long as all prerequisites and instructions have been followed.
